Expert panel discussion | Mauritius on the FATF grey list

Sanne hosted an expert panel discussion after Mauritius was placed on the FATF grey list.

On Friday, 21 February 2020, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) placed Mauritius alongside 17 other jurisdictions on their “grey list”. While this has caused unease in the India equity market, as FIIs have significant exposure to Indian markets, the Securities and Exchange Board of India confirmed that FPIs from Mauritius would continue to be eligible for registration with increased monitoring as per FATF norms.

Topics under discussion:

  • Grey list is not black list
  • The impact in India and APAC
  • Impact on tax and redemptions
  • The Mauritius perspective
