Role summary

This is a new, important role required by the successful expansion beyond the UK of the Depositary business into Luxembourg and the robust pipeline of business.

This role sits within the Corporate and Institutional division (“C&I”) of Sanne Group.  The role has a comprehensive array of responsibilities including, but not limited to, working directly with other members of the Depositary team (initially Luxembourg and the UK potentially expanding to other possible jurisdictions where Sanne may develop its Depositary presence), daily interface with internal administrative counterparts, regular interaction with external clients, internal (as well as , where necessary, external) legal counsel, Compliance, Risk, HR, Finance, and IT teams within Sanne.  This role will additionally have primary responsibility for client on-boarding of all depositary services in Luxembourg.

Given the fundamental daily requirements as well as assistance in overall business developmental responsibilities, and regulatory focus, this position represents a key management role within the Luxembourg depositary business, focused on meeting the service requirements of our Depositary clients.

 

Key responsibilities

Daily AIFMD Deliverables:

  • Oversee Depositary team & in-house service specialists as required to ensure delivery of:
    • full Due Diligence in respect of Depositary customer portfolio and any sub-custodian appointed (as necessary)
    • cash monitoring duties in accordance with the AIFMD
    • (if required) safekeeping duties in accordance with AIFMD
    • oversight duties in accordance with the AIFMD
  • Timely invoicing of Luxembourg Depositary customer fees in accordance with billing schedules and efficient collection of debtors within agreed parameters 
  • Coordinate Luxemburg Depositary delivery of ad-hoc tasks driven from internal Sanne projects

Team Management Deliverables:

  • Supervise Luxembourg Depositary team Administrators
  • Promote high quality / efficient output of Depositary Administrators; maintain open rapport with Depositary team; advocate development and leadership of Depositary Administrators & other staff members
  • Supportively work with all Depositary team members to continuously review and enhance effectiveness of operational policies & procedures; suggest & facilitate implementation of operational improvements
  • Responsible for monitoring, managing and reporting to Head of Depositary, any matters requiring escalation in accordance with Sanne Depositary procedures
  • Encourage high quality & efficient output of Depositary Administrators
  • Ensure all Depositary staff issues addressed within a timely and empathetic manner and in accordance with Sanne policies and procedures

Client Relationship Management Deliverables:

  • Key Luxembourg Depositary client liaison
  • Establish and ensure effective communication with clients, the relevant fund administrators (both internal and external) and as necessary third party agents and professional advisers to support depositary work being performed
  • Work closely with Head of Depositary on client relationship management ensuring
    • all emerging issues are proactively identified and resolved
    • enhanced client service delivery
    • seamless & coordinated Sanne Group service delivery

Marketing Deliverables:

  • Actively participate in marketing of / new business enquiries for Luxembourg depositary services to new and existing clients; where needed assist with the same for other jurisdictions
  • Establish, build & maintain strong relationships and new networks with both internal, cross jurisdictional and external contacts
  • Utilize fund administration and AIFMD knowledge, Luxembourg AML (and other applicable regulation(s)) to assist with negotiation of Depositary contracts and Service Level Agreements

General Deliverables:

  • Protect, enhance and respect the reputation of Sanne in all internal and external dealings
  • Develop appropriate monitoring programmes as envisaged by the AIFMD.
  • Ensure all risks (overall business as well as relevant fund-specific) are identified and consistently monitored
  • Ensure that the confidentiality of depositary customers is protected as appropriate at all times

Skills / experience requirements

  • Degree qualified with relevant years of professional experience
  • Strong organisational awareness of Sanne Group
  • Ability to contribute & foster a dynamic culture via positive leadership and support
  • Solid understanding of Depositary intent, oversight role and requirements under AIFMD
  • Robust understanding of structure and operation of Alternative Investment Funds under AIFMD
  • Determination to ensure fund structures are thoroughly understood both at close and throughout evolution (as applicable) of investment period
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Ability to plan and organise oneself as well as others to ensure delivery of all Depositary deadlines
  • Strong objectivity and awareness of regulatory issues & requirements
  • Excellent analytic skills and affinity with numbers & data
  • Management experience
  • Ability to adapt to fluctuating workloads and analytical demands of the role
  • Ability to understand complex investment fund structures
